For a business or an organization to achieve its goals and objectives requires effective leadership from its managers.
We have found that the attributes of an effective leader include:
We work with our clients in each of these areas, based on their needs and preferences.
Our goal is to enable you and your managers to not only say they want success... but to improve their ability to achieve it. The level of work we take a person into is always through their personal choice.
Intent:
Some leaders have clear intent about where they are heading - for themselves and their organization. Others do not. We have methods for sorting through conflicting intent and working with individuals to decide where they really want to be going.
Leadership and Management Skills:
Important skills for strategic leaders and managers are described in the section on Organizational Effectiveness.
These skills include the ability to analyze the organization or business and its environment, resources and culture to develop an effective competitive strategy, and to implement that strategy through design of the organization, job design, selection processes, implementation skills, communication, feedback and reward systems.
We generally work on-the-job with leaders on specific organization effectiveness projects. By "exercising their muscles" on live projects that make a difference to the business, they are more able to integrate these strategic skills and use them on the next project.
Willingness to Succeed:
Some people have clearer intent about being frustrated... than they do about being successful. We have methods to help frustrated leaders get clear on their willingness to succeed and to receive the benefits of success. By identifying and clearing self-sabotaging behavior, the person can support both him/herself as well as the organization.
Taking Action:
Following through with the strategic plans is necessary to implement change. We coach individuals in how to move plans into actions through their own effort and by involving their team members and colleagues.
Clear and consistent communication through a variety of channels is a significant part of successful action. We help individuals learn their own communication styles and also how to communicate more effectively with others.
Perseverance:
Things don't always go according to plan. The ability and the drive to persist through difficulties, to creatively evaluate options and fit them into the overall plan -- or to be ready to recommend altered strategies -- is part of the equation for leadership success. We can help people determine what gets them off-track, and how to get back on.
Celebration:
Whether it is celebrating the success of a good implementation, or celebrating that a turning point has been reached, acknowledging the efforts of the team and of the entire organization is good leadership.
The New Idea:
The only true constant is change. The evolving nature of human beings, of organizations, of new challenges being faced are part of what inspires creativity, passion and aliveness. Being ready and willing to work with the New Idea in one's life is part of our human grace - and our effectiveness.
When personal effectiveness is enhanced, the individual benefits... and the organization benefits.
